#🚨 Important Industry Update from Active Freight Logistics – IndiaCivil Aviation Ministry Proposes New Rules & Heavy Penalties for Dangerous Goods Violations The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, has released a draft notification proposing new regulations for the air transport of Dangerous Goods (DG)—a move set to significantly impact shippers, freight forwarders, airlines, and logistics providers across the country. Under the proposed framework, graded penalties up to ₹1 crore will be imposed for violations related to the handling and movement of hazardous substances such as flammable liquids, gases, lithium batteries, and radioactive materials. 🔹 What’s New?• The draft rules lay greater emphasis on training and assessment of all personnel involved in DG handling.• The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will be empowered to grant approvals for specific DG consignments.• The DGCA will also perform stricter inspections and compliance checks than ever before. 🔹 Penalty Structure (Proposed):• Level 1 Offence – Non-compliance related to DG training: ₹10,000 to ₹1 lakh.• Carriage of DG without regulatory approval: ₹25 lakh to ₹1 crore. These proposed changes come as an amendment to the existing Aircraft (Carriage of Dangerous Goods) Rules, 2003. While the IATA DGR (Dangerous Goods Regulations) remains the global guiding standard, this step signals India’s intent to tighten domestic enforcement and align more closely with international safety standards. 🟠 Our Commitment:At Active Freight Logistics, safety and regulatory compliance are non-negotiable.
